International ICT Days

Geschreven op 29 oktober 2009, 13:07 door Ingwio D'Hespeel in Gastsessies

Two weeks countdown! On November 12th the first Edition of the International ICT Days will be held here at KaHo Sint-Lieven. We invited partners from all over Europe to do lectures and workshops for our students. And what a promising line-up we have...

Schedule international days

Network Forensic Research
Joep Aerts, Hogeschool Zuyd, Heerlen, NL

Joep Aerts will take us on a fascinating train ride through the landscapes of Network Forensic Research. In this lecture, Joep will explore what forensic research is and what the possibilities are nowadays. Of course, on a train ride like this it's not an option not to take an ethical detour: also the ethics and law concerning forensic research will be covered. A train not to miss!

History of animation
Eva Sørum Poulsen, Aarhus University, Institute of Business and Technology, Herning, DK

Some of you might have some basic experience already with animating in Flash, or may have experimented with 3D animation or have constructed an animated GIF to use as your avatar. Animating is fun, but where has it all begun? And what are the possibilities today? Flashback! Enter the time machine with Eva Sørum. She'll take you back in time through the history of animation (mainly focusing on computer based animation technologies). Well, if this won't be an animated lecture....

Icon Design for Mobile Devices
Jesper Eistrøm, Aarhus University, Institute of Business and Technology, Herning, DK

Which iPhone owner doesn't love his or her iPhone? How comes? Yep, it's all about design... They don't only look nice, but they're extremely user friendly. And one very important aspect of good usability is... good icon design! Jesper Eistrøm knows all the secrets of good icon design and is more than happy to share them with you. This is a hands-on workshop: you'll be developing your own icons in Photoshop (and learning some cool new Photoshop tricks along the way). Warning: Jesper really is a Photoshop genius, but you know what they say about geniuses: they tend to go crazy from time to time ;-)...

Pair Programming
Jože Rugelj, University of Ljubljana, Ljubljana, SI

We all know it's a lot more fun to do some programming together with a friend than to do it all alone. Hard to disagree on this, no? But did you realise programming in pairs is also a much more efficient way to do it? At the university of Ljubljana they know all about it and they're here to show you! In this hands-on session Jože Rugelj will guide pairs of students through a few different small programming tasks which will be handled with special pair programming techniques. A "must-attend" for students who'd like to give their team projects a kick in the *** ;-).

Hypertext for Learning
Irena Nan?ovska Šerbec, University of Ljubljana, Ljubljana, SI

Panic! Data overload! We all know this feeling when the information we're getting or want to communicate is getting above our heads, don't we? In this lecture, Irena Nan?ovska Šerbec will demostrate a few interesting techniques to more effectively organise, structure and present data.

Prototyping an Interactive Device
Jelle Van Dijk, Hogeschool Utrecht, Utrecht, NL

Nintento Wii, Microsoft Surface, E-readers, iPhone, ubiquitous computing, tangible interfaces, wearable computing, augmented reality, ambient technology,... Just a few words to sketch what this hands-on workshop will be about. Small teams of students will develop a paper prototype for a mobile device and create a digital interactive demo of how your creation works. This workshop is where creativity, technology and the human body meet. Jelle Van Dijk will inspire you, guide you and open your eyes onto a fascinating nearby future.

I'm really stoked to go to the Network Forensic Research lecture but I am wondering whether he will try and involve us, the participants, or just lecture and show us some crazy stuff :). We'll see!
